Every year many tourists come to Volendam to dress up in the Volendam costume to take a picture. The Volendam costume is world famous and is often referred to as the Dutch national costume. That’s because of the paintings from famous painters who have lived and worked in Volendam. The primary part of the Volendam costume is the ‘hul’, a lacy cap on a woman’s head. Another typical part of the Volendam costume is the necklace of blood coral. Some Volendam women still wear the Volendam costume.
You will have the opportunity to dress up in the Volendam costume. The photo will be a great souvenir from your visit to the unique village of Volendam.
