Walking in Amsterdam

The most simplest thing to do in Amsterdam is to take a walk! Just enjoy the hustle and buslte of the city, observe the people and the daily rituals of the people working, living and studying in the city or who are enjoying there holiday… Pay attention to the canal houses and try to spot all different facades.

A must-do with every city trip is to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Why not admire the view in a hammock chair? Are you a thrill seeker? Swing over the roof top and enjoy Europe’s largest swing!

Flea market IJ-Hallen

A flea market is a typical Dutch thing to do, especially when it’s King’s Day. The IJ-Hallen is the biggest and most unique flea market in Europe.

Canal Cruises

A must-do is to go on a canal cruise, it’s simply the best wat to discover the city. You can make it a bit more special by going on a Hard Rock Burger Cruise or a Dinner Cruise.

Patatje oorlog

Patatje oorlog literally means war fries, it’s fries with peanut sauce, mayonaise and with or without raw onions. You can get it at a snack bar or street vendor. Are you really, really, really hungry? Order a patatje kapsalon, which is made of fries, shoarma, cheese, lettuce and garlic sauce (it contains about 1.800 calories!). Patatje Kapsalon means hairdresser fries, the idea came from a hairdresser he put all his favourite ingredients together.

Cycling

Vondelpark and Westerpark

The sun is shining? Go to the Vondelpark with a book and enjoy the weather like the locals. When there is just a beam of sunlight in The Netherlands the Dutch storm outside to enjoy the weather. Do some grocery shopping and enjoy a barbeque in the Westerpark (it’s forbidden in the Vondelpark).

Whether you visit the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum or the Stedelijk Museum you’ll enjoy the rich culture the city of Amsterdam has to offer. Visit at least one of thse museums.

Albert Cuypmarkt

The A’DAM Lookout and the Flea Market IJ-Hallen are the highest and biggest of their kind in Europe. The Albert Cuypmarkt is the biggest market in Europe. The ‘Cuyp’ has been there since 1905 and is still immensely popular. The local Amsterdammer visits the market to do their shopping.
