Important information

Diamond Museum Amsterdam

The Diamond Museum, located in the heart of Amsterdam at a stone’s throw from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, is a must for everyone interested in diamonds and jewellery.

The exhibition goes back in time and explains how diamonds are formed and processed. You will discover how man’s passion for diamonds has developed and what role power and wealth play in it. The Diamond Museum Amsterdam has a beautiful historical collection of replica tiaras and crowns. There is also a unique permanent collection with famous pieces like the Katana (Japanese sword) of Murano glass with 1967 diamonds and 494 rubies, the smallest diamond ever cut, and the diamond Ape Akull. This skull contains 17,000 brilliant diamonds and is inspired by the diamond-encrusted human skull of Damien Hirst.

The Diamond Heist

The door opens and you walk into a dark room. On the other side of the room, you will see the biggest diamond you have ever seen. The lasers go on and the room fills with smoke. Your mission? Steal the diamond… Visit the Diamond Museum Amsterdam now and experience a diamond robbery in an escape room-like setting. Manoeuvre acrobatically past the laser beams and try to reach the diamond. If you hit a laser beam, an alarm will go off. Are you up to it?
